Canned Foods
Here is another French classic. Like many items at L’Ile de France it has been produced by the same family for generations. Made in Brittany, it is known throughout France as “the little blue can”. Playing on the name Hénaff, some call it “pâté du mataff” “pâté of sailors”. In the manner of the madeleine immortalized by Proust, it evokes in Bretons all manner of pleasant associations: Pâté Hénaff.
All three of these foods are excellent for lunch, picnics, or served with cocktails. Being canned, they are extremely convenient to keep on hand without worry of spoilage thus their popularity on boats!
